Psalmopoeus pulcher
(Petrunkevitch, 1925)
Panama blonde (arboreal)
Panama
~ 6 cm bodylength
Longevity: ♀ ~ 15 years, ♂ ~ 4 years
This species looks very similar to Psalmopoeus emeraldus, but becomes slightly larger. After only four moults, the animals usually achieve their beautiful golden brown color. The spider from Panama lives mainly in tree crevices in less overgrown lowland rainforests. Although they are tree dwellers, the Psalmopoeus pulcher also like to dig (like almost all Psalmopoeus species). They are quick when needed and can appear quite confident.
